AFP - The government said Tuesday it has earmarked 50 million Singapore dollars (34.5 million US) to fund research on clean energy, such as solar power, over the next five years.

Many cities are looking to alternative energy as an immediate solution to meet the rising demand for electricity.
The city of Tallahassee is developing an electricity infrastructure plan for the next 20 years. The plan includes using renewable/alternative energy whenever possible. They are looking to industry to help them make the economic decisions.
